Chart News For November 7, 2011: Four The Record Miranda Lambert's #1

We expected Miranda Lambert to hit #1 with Four The Record, her fourth album, and that's exactly what she's done this week. Read on to check out our rundown of this week's chart news to see where other country stars landed in the Top 10 this week!

Scotty McCreery sales are “Clear As Day” While Toby Tumbles

With Toby Keith’s album moving roughly half of what it sold its first week, last week, Scotty McCreery’s Clear As Day remained the #2 selling country album and it should end up scanning gold in the next two weeks as it will benefit from a post CMA Awards bump (as will most artists performing on the show or winning awards) and with 425,000 already scanned (Sold to fans officially), Scotty only needs to maintain his current 40,000 albums pace to get there. Toby Keith follows right behind Scotty on the chart and he’s moved 101,000 copies of Clancy’s Tavern while the song “Red Solo Cup” becomes an outright phenomenon as a digital single with sales over 100,000 already, by itself. Lady Antebellum’s Own The Night has now sold nearly ¾ a million records but it’s certainly a lower number than most expected after a month on the charts. Still, it’s not a number to sneeze at and in the end it could help the band take home ‘best selling country album released in 2011,’ a record they held for 2010’s Need You Now until Taylor took over with Speak Now  (which is closing in on 4x platinum).  Rounding out this week’s Top 5 on the SoundScan Current Country Albums chart is Jason Aldean, who has sold roughly a million copies of My Kinda Party in 2011 and has nearly scanned double platinum (2 million).

It’s All “Tailgates & Tanlines” for Luke Bryan

With nearly a half-million copies sold, Luke Bryan’s third album Tailgates & Tanlines is about to join his sophomore album Doin’ My Thing as a seller of 500,000 copies and is well on it’s way to Platinum status, joining singles like “Rain is a Good Thing,” “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” and likely current single and top-seller at iTunes, “I Don’t Want This Night To End.” Luke’s nominated for a CMA Award tonight for Best New Artist and sales #s like that show just why. Lauren Alaina is next with Wildflower and if she continues to have hit singles (“Georgia Peaches” is on the charts now) and selling albums, she may very well be a nominee for Best New Artist next year (Scotty McCreery is all but assured a spot there). Brantley Gilbert’s another artist with a shot at the same award with a couple more singles and perhaps a Gold album in Halfway To Heaven on the horizon. Current single “Country Must Be Country Wide” has an outside shot at #1. The soundtrack for the film Footloose has now sold over 70,000 copies and if the past history for Country Strong is any indication, it’ll be a strong seller through this holiday season and once again when the DVD hits stores in 2012.  Martina McBride’s Republic Nashville debut, Eleven has moved nearly 80,000 copies in 4 weeks and with “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” rising the charts, it’s likely to continue to be a solid performer this holiday season.

The Band Perry Leads Notable Albums this week

With over 823,000 copies sold so far, The Band Perry’s year-old self-titled album has certainly positioned the group to take home the Top New Artist award at tonight’s CMA Awards telecast. Their current single “All Your Life” will likely be performed at the telecast. Eric Church has now sold nearly 420,000 copies of the already Gold-certifed Chief while Blake Shelton’s approaching 400,000 for his latest album Red River Blue. A huge night at the show for Blake (where he’s up for 5 awards) and the album could skyrocket in sales next week (as is normally the case). Brad Paisley’s This Is Country Music had a 24% sales increase this week, a strong showing for an album which could take home the CMA Award for “Album of the Year” tonight.  Hunter Hayes rounds out our notable album’s section this week while “Storm Warning” hits the Top 20. It’s but just the beginning of his star-making career, we think.
