Natalie Stovall & The Drive Kickstart "Heartbreak" EP

As the talented band's Kickstarter campaign turns for the homestretch, we got a chance to chat with front woman Natalie Stovall about the project and how you can help them make their next EP!

Natalie Stovall and the Drive, one of RoughStock's favorite live bands, has experienced enough heartbreak the past couple of years to have lived their forthcoming EP's songs, as they've experienced an up and down year after their record label closed in the middle of 2014.

"I wanted to call the EP 'Heartbreak' because it really did represent the things our band has gone through these past couple of years," says Natalie Stovall. "There is a rollercoaster of emotions that go into working very hard on something only to have it suddenly go away when the label closed."

The band, which had recorded and released an EP even ran into frustrations when that EP, a self-titled project, had been removed from retailers and streaming services.

"We really had to put the brakes on everything after the label closure and while it took a while, we were able to get everything back up there for [the fans]," said Natalie.

While they still work on getting the other materials from their time with the label, at least fans have something to listen to to tide them over while the current Kickstarter project gets completed.

"We had began working on it before running into walls like touring and finding the funds to continue to record it," says Natalie. "When we started the Kickstarter, we were able to say that we've started the project but [that we] needed the fans help finish it."

When asked what it feels like to have the initial success of the campaign to make the new project and what that also means to have the support of a core group of supporters, Natalie said, "It's been overwhelming to see what's going on with it as we were almost completely funded in the initial week." She continued that it's "an amazing platform to be able to let people know what's going on and what we're doing."

When asked about what the band will do with the extra revenue raised behind the project, Natalie said that they'd put the money into paying for the marketing and, while not necessarily the 'fun parts of music,' the "stuff that's necessary to get the word out about it." They may also use some of the extra funds to cover more recording costs, which should please any fans longing for a full-length or even more than 5/6 songs on an EP.

Natalie Stovall and the Drive are an amazing live band and have a strong EP (check it out on Apple Music here)  already out there. Now with their forthcoming Heartbreak EP, you'll be able to get to know the band more.

If you wanna help them out and throw a few bucks (or more) their way, the Kickstarter campaign runs through tonight and you can support the awesomely talented band with their goal of creating a fantastic piece of music by clicking here.
