Craig Wayne Boyd Sets New Record

“The Voice”’s most-recent winner is First debut single to Top charts.

After winning NBC’s The Voice as part of Blake Shelton’s team (the fourth in the seven seasons of the show), Craig Wayne Boyd chose a song Blake Shelton had held onto for a while, “My Baby’s Got A Smile On Her Face,” as his debut single for the show, the first winner to release an original single from the program upon winning it.

The song, written by Stephanie Urbina Jones and Mark Marchetti, is now the second song to ever top the Hot Country Songs chart upon it’s initial release, following Garth Brooks “More Than A Memory” over 7 years ago in September of 2007. The singer, who has toured 243 dates a year since writing songs as signed songwriter in Nashville. He’s now been signed to Dot Records as part of winning The Voice. There are no details about his album to offer at this time but he will perform at The Grand Ole Opry this week, making his debut at the iconic music venue.
