Rising Star Frank Foster Making Waves

Truly independent singer/songwriter storms album charts, outselling major label acts.

Chances are that there are more than a few executives in Nashville wondering just who Frank Foster is. Over the past three years he’s stormed the charts with his albums Red Wings and Six Strings, Southern Soul and Rhythm and Whiskey. Each album has subsequently sold more than the last with debuts at #30, #11 and #4 on the Country Music Albums chart. Just this week Rhythm And Whiskey debuted at #21 on the all-genre charts with over 9k fans purchasing the album digitally and through stores in the southeast and Texas.

Through his do-it-yourself ethos, Foster has taken the road rarely travelled. He currently acts as his own record label, management, booking agency and publishing company.

How has Foster built up a loyal audience like this? Well, for starters, he’s released albums each of the past four years (including his 2011 debut Rowdy Reputation) and thanks to his blend of southern rock and outlaw country music, Foster has built up a reputation as a live act not to miss.

Much like Colt Ford and Corey Smith, Foster has relentlessly toured from town to town to build up this audience and has succeeded in crafting real, relatable music. Along with the touring and the music, the former oil rigging’ roughneck has been personable and real to his audience.

With his momentum building, it’s only a matter of time before Nashville’s labels and agencies come calling (if they haven’t already), because if there’s something labels really look for in stars these days, it’s the ability to connect with audiences the way Frank Foster has with each of his four independently released albums.

I grow up abt 2 miles from Frank. I have known him all my life. Music comes nature to him and his family. Living in Hawaii for over 2 1/2 years. Listing to his music helps a lot when I get home sick and missing small town life. My 7 yr old loves his music too. Great job Frank.....

Yes as everyone is saying, he is the best country singer out there. Puts on better shows than Hank..... I really think one reason is because he's just like us! "Works hard for his $" . Nobody from this area in TN knows who FF is, but we are slowly but surely getting the word out. We need to get him to come play Tn, but until that day comes we'll keep going to La to see him! Go getcha sum Frank, a bottle, some friends, and an ol camp fire and Enjoy!

Underground KING!! Love me some Frank!! Fans love that he hasn't sold out to the pop country execs in Nashville. He does it HIS way, singing and living out our way of life. He loves his fans and we love him right back! I've seen Frank live more times than I can count, follow him anywhere I can. Always will! We all will! He doesn't just sing, he leaves his heart and soul on the stage every single time and still makes time for fans afterwards! He's the real deal.

Please stay away from a major label signing. All they will do is milk your talent for themselves. Your strength is with your fans. It's worked well so far. The big boys are greedy and jealous; they're like little babies who cry until they get their way. Fan revolution will force change in today's country music until it truly resurfaces to its roots.

After hearing my friends go on and on about Frank Foster I decided to go to a concert and all I can say is WOW!!! Not only is he an awesome singer song writer but he is one of the best performers I've ever seen. He leaves it all on the stage, makes you feel every word he's singing and when the concert is over he's waiting to meet every last fan. Great concert. Great singer. Great person. Go FF Nation!!

  • Johnny

Frank puts on one of the best shows around: high energy, entertaining, and that band can really play! He doesn't need a major label to change him--he's just fine the way he is.
