Brad Paisley Surprises U.S. Troops in Afghanistan in Honor of Memorial Day

Country icon flies aboard Air Force One with The President of the United States of America to visit Troops on one of Country's most sacred of holidays.

This past Memorial Day (Monday, May 26) just might be Brad Paisley's favorite of the holiday, past, present and future. That day, the country superstar was a surprise guest at Bagram Airfield, the main U.S. base in Afghanistan. In honor of Memorial Day and to express his thanks to the troops he played an hour long acoustic set for approximately 3,000 U.S. troops. From the stage, Paisley referred to the event as “the honor of my life.”

The weekend leading up to Memorial Day, Paisley boarded Air Force One, with President Barack Obama and a few of his advisers and made the overnight flight to Bagram. The trip was not announced and a complete surprise until they landed. President Obama delivered a speech to the troops expressing thanks for their extraordinary service, met with military commanders and visited wounded troops in the base hospital.

Kuddos, Brad, for always having your heart in the right place!
