Charlie Daniels Praises Justin Moore's Approach to Country Music

Justin Moore discusses his slow-rise to ACM New Artist of the Year status while Icon Charlie Daniels also levied some high praise for the Gold-selling Arkansas native. Get the full scoop about both events here!

After six years of making records, Justin Moore finally received his first major industry recognition with his New Artist Of The Year award win at the 49th Academy Of Country Music Awards. Moore has been on the Country Music scene long enough that his New Artist nomination was surprising to many, and even controversial.

He spoke about his unexpected nomination in an April 4 interview with Radio.com, shortly before his ACM Party For A Cause performance.
"We've been out six years and we've got three album out and we're headlining our own arena tour," Moore said. "It was a little shocking to be up for New Artist, but after six years of being nominated, I would take Female Vocalist if they wanted to give that to me."

He added, "To me, that's nothing negative about saying 'new.' That means hopefully everybody thinks we're doing something fresh out there. For as many people that know our music, there's ten times as many that don't. That tells me we have to keep grinding and work harder."

In addition to his recent ACM accolade, Moore has also received praise from one of his own musical heroes, the legendary Charlie Daniels.

"I've had a 56-year career by doing what I felt like what was good for us," Daniels told Radio.com "I've done some things just because the record company wanted me to. It don't work for me. I will never do it again. I did what I wanted to do. I know what I'm best suited to do. That's what we're missing. That's what we're not seeing. That's why innovation is not happening, and new sounds are not happening."

Daniels continued, "What we need is a breath of fresh air like a Keith Urban, Zac Brown or Justin Moore or somebody that comes along and does it differently enough to be innovative"
Justin Moore is currently riding the charts with his new hit "Lettin' The Night Roll," the second single from his latest Valory album release Off The Beaten Path. Charlie Daniels' new album Off The Grid - Doin' It Dylan is out now on Blue Hat Records.
