John David Kent - Before The Sun Comes Up

Rising star John David Kent follows-up his self-titled 2011 release with Before The Sun Comes Up, his first widely-released album via Thirty Tigers. Take a look here to see what makes the album such an appealing album to listen to!

Working with Dwight A. Baker, John David Kent has crafted as strong a 10 track collection of Country Music as one's likely to find in 2013. "Country Twang" gets the album off to a rockin' start an if not a hit for J.D.K. himself, I can easily see an artist like Jason Aldean or even Kenny Chesney taking it and turning it into a hit. The title track features strong hooks which also lend the song to mainstream radio while "Fight For You" and "Last Call" can all make a case for mainstream success too. Lead single "Until We Turn Around" certainly has the sound of a big ole hit as well and actually offers more with some fun sing-a-long ready lyrics.

In fact, there's not a track on this album that couldn't fit right in with mainstream Country. "Little Less Lonely" is another tune that fits within the mainstream sound but with a stronger than normal set of lyrics that hint at emotional depth (it was written by Jeff Allen, Odie Blackmon and Jeremy Spillman). "Struck A Nerve" has strong grooves and even stronger lyrics as Kent sings a lyric (written with Kendall Marvell and Travis Meadows) that just aches to have the volume turned with the windows rolled down. "Free To Drive" finds J.D.K. singing of the power and pull a first car has on a young life and how it helps shape the early memories of our lives.
