Randy Travis' condition took a turn for the worse last night but the singer remains in critical condition at Baylor Medical Center following emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. For more details on last night's events, read on below.

Randy Travis Undergoes Surgery Following Stroke, Remains in Critical Condition

Randy Travis is currently undergoing emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain following a stroke he suffered Wednesday (July 10) as a complication of his congestive heart failure. According to an official press release serviced by the singer's rep, Travis remains in critical condition at this time.

Earlier in the day, Travis' medical doctors released statements of their own, letting fans know that his condition has stabilized and he was showing signs of improvement. 

Travis was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, July 7 where he has remained in doctors care to get the legend on his road to recovery. Travis' family and friends are with him at the hospital in Texas and continue to ask fans for prayers and support during this time. Stay tuned to Roughstock for all the latest on Travis' condition.

Up until 3 weeks ago, Randy Travis was in great physical conditions. But then somewhere he contracted a viral upper respiratory illness which lead to him being admitted to Baylor Medical Center on Sunday July 7, Dr William Gray, the Director of cardiovascular services at Baylor Medical Center said in a statement released today. 

Travis was admitted to Baylor McKinney with a presumptive cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. At the hospital he was stabilized and sub sequentially sent to The Heart Hosptial of Baylor's Plano, Texas campus for higher specialized care.

Dr. Michael Mack, the director of cardiovascular disease at Baylor Health Care System in Dallas said Randy Travis' condition has stabilized and he has shown signs of improvement since being admitted to The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano.
