Jacob Lyda - "I'm Doing Alright"

With the music world evolving enough for smaller labels and artists to compete with the 'big boy' major labels, an artist like Jacob Lyda really has a shot at success on the charts. Does "I'm Doing Alright" have enough to suggest he's worthy of such attention and success?

It’s as simple as a piece of cornbread but this is the kind of song that has helped people get through what they think are problems with their lives and realize that they don’t need to have new this or new that to keep up with the Joneses if they just learn to be happy with the good things they DO have in life.  And for the narrator, Jacob Lyda, that’s enough for him.  The melody is sweet and instantly warm, just like Lyda’s vocal.  Like Easton Corbin, Jacob Lyda seems to have the kind of neo-traditionalist voice that just feels like it was meant to be played all over the radio dial.

While being signed to a smaller label makes the chance for success on the charts all the tougher, if anyone can get around that small fact, it’s a a talent like Jacob Lyda, particularly with a song as strong as "I'm Doing Alright."
