Thursday News Briefs: ACM Performers Announced; LeAnn dated Tiger?

Today's news round-up features news about the latest round of performers scheduled to perform on the 45th ACM Awards April 18, 2010 while news leaked yesterday that LeAnn Rimes once dated Tiger Woods.  All this and more is in today's news briefs.

ACM Performers Announced

Host Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, and Carrie Underwood were announced as the first set of performers for the Academy of Country Music’s 45 Annual ACM Awards show which will be at 8pm ET and tape delayed to Mountain and Pacific audiences.  Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn and Blake Shelton with Trace Adkins will perform as well.  Additional performers will be announced soon.  The ACM’s  are at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

LeAnn Rimes Dated Tiger Woods?

About 10 years ago, before either Tiger or LeAnn found their spouses, the two stars briefly dated.  Apparently tiger really liked LeAnn but her father called it off saying their age was too far apart.  LeAnn recently went through her own ‘scandal’ as she and Eddie Cibrian were caught cheating on their spouses together. Both Rimes and Cibrian are in the middle of divorces.  Woods? Well, there isn’t a person in the world who doesn’t know what he has done…

Top American Songwriters to Showcase Talents at Key West Festival

More than 150 leading American songwriters are to perform their hit songs and preview new melodies on Key West stages during the 15th annual Better Angels Key West Songwriters Festival scheduled Wednesday, April 28, through Sunday, May 2. Among the songwriters are Jamey Johnson, Kim Carnes, Raul Malo, Randy Houser, Robert Earl Keen, Chuck Cannon, Luke Laird, and Hugh Preshtwood. The festival benefits the Muzak Heart and Soul Foundation which is dedicated to supporting and redefining music education.

Dierks Bentley To Take Part in Dow Live Earth Run For Water in Minneapolis

Dierks Bentley was recently added to a list of entertainers and celebrites that includes Rob Thomas, Melissa Etheridge and runner Carl Lewis in raising awareness for clean drinking water.  “I’m looking forward to this event and helping bring attention to the global water crisis,” Dierks said about his involvement.  Click here for more information.

Charlie Daniels and Friends Support Lipscomb Univeristy’s “Operation Yellow Ribbon”

While there are a lot of charitable endeavors out there, none seem quite as warranted as the one that Lipscomb University has going now with their Operation Yellow Ribbon campaign.  The campaign is designed to give returning and recently released combat veterans the chance to earn a free education at Lipscomb University.  Charlie was joined by Gretchen Wilson, Kix Brooks, Amy Grant and the event was emceed by Larry Gatlin.  General Tommy Franks (Ret.) gave an entertaining key note speech this past Tuesday (March 23).
