News Briefs: Crazy Heart Director Discusses Real Country Music, Eddie Montgomery Opens up New Restauant

Scott Cooper, the director of Crazy Heart discussed recently what "Real Country Music" is to him while Eddie Montgomery opens a Restaurant in Lexington, KY. The Dixie Chicks May also have something brewing as well.

What is "Real Country Music" to the Director of Crazy Heart, Scott Cooper?

Crazy heart is a new film that is gaining lots of Oscar Buzz for both its star Jeff Bridges and for the theme song "The Weary Kind" from Ryan Bingham (which is nominated for a Golden Globe Award as well).  The film's director was quoted as saying that "real country music" is "really about anyone who writes about their real life experiences. That's what's important, no matter what kind of music."  Nothing about how it should sound sonically is talked abotu here, although the to-be-released soundtrack features traditional and singer/songwriter fare from Bridges, Bingham, The Lovin Brothers, Buck Owens and Waylon Jennings among others. Two of the Dixie Chicks are releasing an album this year

Emily Robison and Martie Maguire are set to debut a new record for their Wide Open/Columbia imprint but it won't be with their friend and Dixie Chicks band member/front woman Natalie Maines.  No direction about what the record will sound like or anything like that has been announced. 

Eddie Montgomery Opens New Restaurant

Eddie Montgomery has opened a restaurant in his hometown of Harrodsburg KY.  The restaurant is “Eddie Montgomery’s Steakhouse." You can find out more information about the Steakhouse by following Montgomery's Twitter or visting their website.
