Darius Rucker - "History In The Making"

Everything in Darius Rucker's country music career has thusfar been "history in the making." While it could be a little clichéd to say such things, Darius Rucker truly has thrived in his new career and scored 3 straight #1 hits. Can this single follow them to the top of the charts?

So far everything in the country career has been “History In The Making” for Darius Rucker.  He’s released three straight #1 hits, scored a Gold then Platinum award for his Learn To Live (click to read) album and opened for artists like Brad Paisley along with his own headlining tour while also garnering a pair of CMA Award nominations.  So, then,  why not release the mid-tempo ballad with the title “History In The Making” as his fourth single?   The song, which Darius co-wrote with Ashley Gorley and Frank Rogers, shows off Darius’ strong emotive vocal and there’s certainly something about the whole song that just fits the path Darius is on.

The lyrics, which talk about the specialness of a budding relationship, are backed by a contemporary production that doesn’t forget the steel guitar or the acoustic feel of the whole song in the mix.  Frank Rogers might not get enough credit for his strong production hand on this song and the album itself and it’s really something that helps guide Darius’ passionate vocal.   The song really feels like it will become part of many wedding playlists and it certainly could become one of the next decade’s first-dance staple songs.

With a flawless, passionate vocal and the strong production, there isn’t anything that makes “History In The Making” not worth listening to.  It is a song that sounds great on the radio, in an iPod or on a CD and it will for many more years to come which, may, my friends, make “History In The Making” the song that people remember most from Learn To Live and I have no doubt the history Darius is making will include a fourth trip, in a row, to #1.
