Gloriana - The Way It Goes EP

With a hit single ("Wind At Heart") running up the charts, Gloriana has released this digital EP to tie fans over until their self-titled full-length album is released later this year.  Does "The Way It Goes" present a band worthy of their success?

Currently on tour with Taylor Swift, new vocal quartet Gloriana found themselves in the rare predicament of being on a popular tour without any albums to sell so to rectify the situation the quartet have released this digital EP, which they sell in CD form at their concert dates.  "The Way It Goes" EP features four tracks that will be on Gloriana's upcoming self-titled album on Emblem Records.

The first single "Wild At Heart" leads-off the EP and it is the kind of jovial, summery song that is quite appealing, which is no doubt why the single is doing as well as it is at radio.  The second track on the EP is the title song and it, is, while not as infectious as "Wild At Heart," because few songs are, radio-ready and should work as a perfect follow-up single about the time the album has been released.  The third song "You Said" is a kiss-off country/rocker that finds Cheyenne Kimball taking the lead vocals but the best song of the bunch is the acoustic throwback track "Time To Let Me Go."  It starts off with Rachel Reinart taking lead vocals and with a somewhat dark melody, the song is about a girl who wants to break free from someone who is holding her back and not letting her be herself.  The “someone” that is holding her back is up for debate as it could be a parent, a lover or even a friend.

That "Time To Let Me Go" is from the same band as the peppy of-the-moment country/pop sound of "Wild At Heart" might surprise more than a few traditional country hardliners but being open and willing to listen to something honestly, without as much bias or pre-conceived ideas as possible, will allow for you to have such surprises.  Just because these four artists are young and photogenic doesn't mean their music is mindless throw-away stuff.  This also should give everyone hope that their album features even more goodness like the songs featured on this EP.
