Shea Fisher - "Don't Chase Me"

With a song that recalls the pop song "Mickey" from Tony Basil, Australian star Shea Fisher has set her sights on the bright lights and fame that can come with a country career in the USA.  But is a gimmicky childish single going to make the right first impression on listeners?

Just like the "Fred" YouTube phenomenon that kids really love while their parents and other adults simutaneously loathe it, "Don't Change Me" has a hand-claps, Toni Basil-like cheerleading chants in the chorus of "Don't Chase Me" that will be loved or loathed, likely dependant soley on your age.  If You're under, say 25, you're likely to like or really like the song and request the bejesus out of it on radio or if you're older you're likely to reach for the mute button.  The sad thing about the song is that the singer, 21 year-old Australian Shea Fisher is a talented vocalist and shouldn't need such a gimmicky song to debut with.

Perhaps given the 'glass ceiling' at country radio the gimmick was warranted but I'd like to think that talent will find its way out of a forest and as a sane adult, I just don't know if I can get behind this song. Still, I'll surely give Shea a chance when the next single comes around.  I can forgive and forget.  Other people may not be so kind.
