Mindy McCready and Billy McKnight - "Sweeter"

Why on earth has Lofton Creek Records decided to release a single from Mindy McCready and the man convicted of abusing her, Billy McKnight?  It really does seem like nothing more than another pathetic attempt at reviving a troubled career.

In what can only be considered a train-wreck record, we have a new single from 90s Country starlet Mindy McCready and her boyfriend Billy McKnight. If McKnight's name sounds familiar it's because he's the man who beat-up McCready last year. McCready’s life has been a cautionary tale about what addiction and abuse can do to derail a career and for somebody who hasn’t had a hit in about 10 years, McCready sure seems to know how to keep her name in the press, albeit for all the wrong reasons.

“Sweeter” was sent to radio as a serious bid at returning Mindy to the charts while also giving McKnight a chance at stardom. While McCready’s vocals are pretty good on the record, McKnight really has no place being on a record anywhere, at least as a major recording star and most definitely not as a duet partner with the woman he abused and was accused of attempting to murder. For her part, Mindy needs to focus on herself and her family and get mentally healthy before she can even think to try and release an album and regain support at radio and from fans.
