Tracy Lawrence - "Up To Him"

With "Find Out Who Your Friends Are," Tracy Lawrence went from 'old news' to 'new again' to country audiences as the artist released "For The Love" on his own label.  Now back with the lead single from "The Rock," will Tracy be able to repeat the success or will the song fail?

Written-off by radio and the industry, Tracy Lawrence took his DYI attitude and put his money where his mouth was with the formation of his record label Rocky Comfort Records.  With “Find Out Who You Friends Are,” Tracy scored a comeback #1 hit and sold hundreds of thousands of copies of his album “For The Love.”  After recording a holiday album, Tracy’s now back with this song which is the first single from Tracy’s inspirational country album “The Rock.”

Written by Tim Johnson and David Kent, the song talks about the plain-spoken fears that have cropped up in many a small town as hard-working folks deal with the problems of the world and the economy on a micro level as they ‘hope for the best, plan for the worst and ‘work like it’s all up to me and pray that it’s all up to him.” Basically, Lawrence is singing about a man who makes the best he can of a situation that he’s in so while he hopes everything will be OK, he takes solace in his faith that God’s plan will have everything work out the way it is supposed to.

Certainly this well-written song will hit home for anyone who has a job teetering on the brink or perhaps just people who live their life by the creed of working like they make the decisions but pray that God actually does that for him.  Will radio play this topical song? I don’t know but it certainly rivals some of the other economy-based songs and is worthy of any airplay it does receive.
