This is the best song ever. My best friend died of cancer and I used to call her cell phone every day for a month just so i could hear her voice. Then 5 months after she died I was driving to work thinking about her and this song came on the radio (it was my birthday), she new i wanted to hear it so I could make it thru another day with out her. I still cry every time I hear it and it's been a littl over 2 yrs. Thank you so much Toby for writing this.

I lost my daughter June 9, 2009. Temrowski Funeral Home had a Holiday Candle Light Rememberance Service for all of us that have lost a loved one. They played Crying For Me as the Moment of reflection song. There was not a dry eye there. Thank you Toby Keith for such a touching song.

Sam, Sam, Sam...sure the producers of Toby's album decided this would be a great song to include, but it was written from Toby's heart for his friend, not because Toby thought it would sell albums. Sure, you can have your opinion, but you don't need to express your heartless stupidity unless we beat it out of you. Leave the understanding of such things to the mature and full-of-heart people like me and go back to playing with your building blocks.

I don't Like the song. Didn't like the performance last night at the acms either it seemed insincere. You'll never change my opinion I don't like it. There's a reason it didn't go to 1. His current single every dog has his day is even worse than this song if that possible. Mods Tell Isabell not to use the words shut up. They have a negative conotation. Please I'm jut stating an opinion

Hey Sam, if you don't like that song your heart must be as cold as stoone. There is nothhing wrong with that song, but there is something wrong with your brain. SO WHY DON'T YOU DO EVERYONE A FAVOR AND SHUT UP, KAY?

Missing my grandfather says:

I don't usually listen to country music but my Grandfather -- who was also my best friend and who was "famous" for his broad smile and wonderful laugh-- did. The day he died three months ago, I was driving his prized truck home from the hospital, clicked on his radio.... and heard this. It's corny, but I felt like he was speaking to me. I'm missing him a lot today and wanted to hear this song again. Googled it and just now learned it's about a friend who, like my grandfather, died of complications from cancer. Who says synchronicity isn't alive and real?! ;-)

You know, it's a shame that there are folks out there like ol' Sam. I read I guess half the stuff he was saying and it shows his age to speak the way he does. When I heard the song for the first time, I didn't care much for it, because I didn't relate to it. Now, I have a great friend that just found out he has a tumor in his brain that they can't go get. He doesn't have alot of time with us. Now, I have a reason to listen to the song and relate to it. I'm planning to sing this song at his grave side. I haven't let anyone know this as of yet and it may be a year before he passes, but the song is fitting. Back to Sam, there are alot of songs out there that people dislike, but they come and go as always. I don't know if you are aware of this or not Sam, but these folks singing thru your speakers are not doing it to please every person out there and they don't do it for volenteer work, IT'S THEIR JOB. This is what they do. No one makes you listen to it, so turn the channel or turn it down if it's not liked. Be patient and wait three or four minutes, and your problem is over.

Sam, When songs are recorded and then released to radio for airplay, they ARE for monetary reasons. Just like you claim for Toby's song. If you don't like TK, that's fine. But this one is not unlike any other COMMERCIAL album, it's meant to drive sales.

I realize some people like this song. And it may even help some people throught tought times. But that being said I can't say how much I don't like this song. It was done soely for profit. If it does indeed help some of u although I can see why then great but if u wanna help yourselfs you'll find a better song to do it I've already mentioned paisleys when I get where I'm going or even Keith andersons song I still miss you is better trust me listen to it and you will agree that's how a song from the heart should be sang

This song, is a great song! For those that undoubtedly dislike this composed glory well, you have the right to say you do. But for the sake of others if it's not right, or misjudging just keep it to yourself. Because it can seriously either aggitate or completly send the wrong message through to the viewers and listeners. So, please keep the unjustly comments to yourself.

I came on to this webpage to see who the song was written about and other than Wayman was either a bass guitar player or saxophonist and a friend of Toby's, that's the most information I have been able to glean. This song is a beautiful song and many can identify with the emotions that he is singing about, regardless if you feel that he is doing this to profit off of his late friend. Sam does have a right to his opinion even though many of us including myself may disagree. However, just let it be that, an opinion. Don't let his comments taint how the song speaks to your own heart by responding back in anger to him. That is exactly what he wants and you are all playing into his game. I remember my parents telling me and now I tell my kids just to ignore distateful comments from someone else (usually a sibling) and just act as if it doesn't bother you. By reacting to his misspelled blog entries (which confirms his lack of knowledge and the low level of comprehension he possesses), you are just feeding the monster. I am certainly not saying that Sam is stupid. He's not, because he's got all of you feeding his emotional insecurities. I encourage each of you to just ignore him and don't react to his squabble or as he refers to them "opinions". I encourage anyone who blogs on this thread to write how the song has spoken to your heart and what it means to you. It could be that someone reading this blog could benefit from a heartfelt comment. If it benefits just one person, it is well worth it. However, this banter will do no good to anyone, not even yourself. This is just my "opinion", which I in my "opinion" feel like is the best advice that can be offered as regards to dealing with someone like Sam, who either is himself hurting, just likes to hurt others, or is someone that feels like they have to prove their point because they need the validation. I have lost loved ones, but not recently, so my sincerest sympathies go out to all of you that are dealing with a loss of your friend, loved one or even grieving for someone else that has recently lost someone important to them. Know that you will one day be able to talk about how much you miss that person. However, in the meantime, let this song be your voice. My prayers are with you all including Sam. Sam if you do by chance to read my entry, I hope that you will not respond back with comments that might possibly hurt others who have gained so much comfort from this song. Does it really matter whether he did it to profit when it helps heal hearts? But even if you do, I will not respond back to you. I am not going to assume that you are or are not a Christian, because of what I believe to be inconsiderate entries. There are many Christians that don't know how to respond in love and can be just as wicked as the next person. I am a Christian, but am not perfect, and do I want you or anyone else that reads this to interpret my comments as though I feel I am. So instead of responding unfruitfully to your comments, I will instead pray to My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ that He meet the need of whatever it is that may be missing in your life. I ask all that read this have compassion and do the same. Also, while you are praying, you can put in a good word for me as well. You can never have too many people praying for you!

If you want to hear a real good sad song listen to Matt kennon the call. It is amazing and it should be in the top 10 not this crap. And you should know me calling this song overproduced crap is just Merly my own opinion. I'm sure some people disagree but regardless you have to admit this isn't Toby best work and he hasn't been on for years now. Big blue note was ten times better than this. And you can't say anything about any songs I've listed because even if you do is just puffery because everything I've listed as liking has been widley accepted as some of the artists best work. I seriously doubt now or ever will this or american ride will ever be listed as Toby keiths best work. Your free to disagree that's just how I see it

AnnieOakley says:

Sam...dude you need to try some compassion. If you have a right to your own opinion then so do the ones who disagree with you. Has anyone insulted you personally for not liking this song? Has anyone called you an idiot because of your opinion? Has anyone called the songs you like "crap"? No. The rest of us aren't trying to force our opinions on you. If we disagree we just disagree. Before you post another comment bashing this song and those who like it, take a step back and think about how you would feel if the rest of us were telling you that "When I Get Where I'm Going" is a load of crap.

Sam says:

I have lost a loved one. And they played brad paisley when I get where I'm going. I have a right to an opinion. And while I agree that feeligs of hurt and sorry happen Imediatley that's not my only problem with this song. It not just rushed but also forced and he wasn't writing it because he felt bad he was doing to bank off of the death of a good freind. I don't know about you but if I lost a freind I wouldn't bank off it with a forced rushed song. And even if I did I wouldn't continue this ceraide by making it a single. I respect your right to like this crap but I've got a right to not like it too right

R.I.P Twaunce says:

Posted: Sunday, February 14, 2010

Sam, have you ever lost anyone close to you? Do you even KNOW what it feels like? Your comments are ignorant. You're arguing over something that is trivial. You may think that this song was written in a rush, and so what if it was?? It sucks to dwell on someone's death. And the truth of the pain comes out, in the beginning. Like a fresh wound, if you will. Quit your childish bullshit, please. It hurts to be thinking of someone with this song, and then read all f your terribly ignorant statements. Its as if you're purposely trying to taint memories. I know that's not at all what you're doing. You're just stating an opinon. But out of respect for people who have lost loved ones, please stop making it worse by being inconsiderate. Everybody has their own way of dealing with things. And man, if you're hurting too...it's ok. Things will get better...they always do.

Sam says:

Posted: Tuesday, February 2, 2010

I know how to spell thank you. And it's a cliche when the mourning turns into a crappy grouping of things already said in other songs. Instead of making this crappy song why didn't he just listen to the sam song from aritists like paisley. He did it 20 times better so then we wouldn't have to hear this crapp of a song

GetALife says:

Posted: Tuesday, February 2, 2010

You aren't answering the question. How do you know he isn't speaking from the heart? When people die generally people are upset. So is mourning the loss of a friend is now considered 'cliche'? And for the sake of future debate you should use words you know how to spell. That way you don't make yourself lok even more ignorant.

Sam is awsome says:

Posted: Monday, February 1, 2010

Obviously if you like this song your the dumbass. I never said I wasn't a fan of his I like alot of his older stuff but since he's gotten his own label everything he's done has been for the money he's overproduced these days. And he has the nerve to say the Grammys don't apreciate country music. How about taylor lady a Carrie underwood Keith urban and the Zachary brown band they all won. They don't apreciate crap like this. They apreciate good country music. And he isn't speaking from his heart if he is then his heart is full of cleshays and crap that's already been said a million times

SamIsADumbass says:

Posted: Monday, February 1, 2010

Sam how can you say Toby isn't writing from the heart? As far as I know only God can do that and I don't believe you are Him. Yes, you are entitled to your own opinion, but that's just what it is, yours. So why do you feel it necessary to try imposing it on others? Saying he wrote this song so he could profit off of his friends death is an assault on Toby's character. Have you ever met the man? I didnt think so. So again how can you possibly know where he is coming from or his intentions in writing this song? And for you not being a fan you seem to know a lot about his songs. Is this because you are one of those know it all pricks who can't stand the thought of someone disagreeing with you?

Matt B. says:

Wayman was actually a Bass Guitarist. It says it in the song.

Sam says:

I do like emotional songs. Brad paisleys when I get where I'm going is great as well as Jamie johnsons in color, trace adkins your gonna miss this and I even like the dance Garth Brooks is a great singer. But unlike him Toby who has an alright voice feels a need to put out overproduced stuff like this song and has for a while. This song was done in a hurry but not because it's from his heart becuase he wanted to bank off the death and neede to capitalize off it while it was still fresh. And every one has fallen for it so yes I know song writing and I know bad too and if you falling for this crap then abviously you don't know good songwriting yourself

Brannon says:

Posted: Thursday, January 28, 2010

Sam...to state your opinion is one thing. To say "in no way is Toby speaking from the heart," which you did earlier is ignorant. I am a songwriter myself, and the best songs are written from the heart, from an emotional experience. Toby and Wayman knew each other for a long time, and were very close. The Jazz feel is because the artists in the song were all artists that both men worked with. Wayman was a fantastic saxophone player, hence the sax. I, for one, think the song is phenomenal, and has a good shot to climb the charts, and it's current spot at #10 proves that point. If you don't like Toby and his music, that's fine. But to take something as beautiful as this song and it's expression and try to make it sound like it's fake is just ludicrous. Obviously you know nothing about songwriting, as some of the greatest songs of all time were put together quickly. I guess "The Dance" was a horrible song too, huh? Obviously you don't like emotional songs, and that's fine, but don't try to categorize them as not genuine because you don't appreciate them.

Or maybee since your the one that's mad you could quit reading the blog. I have a right to my opinion. I heard this crap of a song today on the radio and changed the station. And if so many people liked him or this song then why isn't it soring up the charts. Instead awsome songs like Josh turner why don't we just dance are yay. I think there two reasons I hate this song 1 it's forced and was written in a hurry after somones death and 2 instead of sounding like a tribute to a friend it sounds more like Toby wanting to bank off of his well known freindship and that's just wrong. That fan was wright to give home the middle finger

Sam says:

I'm not saying you can't like this overproduced crap of a song. That's why there is mainstream because slot of people like this overproduction. I'm just saying seeing how many albums he puts out and the lack of quality that goes into them make this song an every other recent song of his garbage in my eyes. Now that's just my opinion and you have a right to disagree. But te last good song I believe he put out was high maintenance women

bajel says:

Iloved rhe song because it did come from the heart for a falling comrade

Sam says:

Posted: Thursday, December 24, 2009

I never said you couldn't like this song. Or even like toby keith for that matter. I like his older stuff. I even like this song better than American ride. I am just stating an opinion that there are way better songs such as the aformentioned why and when I get where I'm going that deal with and basicly say the same thing in a less overproduced more lyrically minded way. So if you want to like this overproduced crap of a song and pander to a man who puts an album out every year now so obviously dosnt give a damn about quality go ahead but I won't be joining you. And anyone who critisizes somone for having a difference in opinion instead of pandering to the masses isn't that what this country was built on who's the real prick here cmon

Bryan says:

Posted: Thursday, December 24, 2009

Bottom line SAM... You're a prick and while these people are enjoying a song for special reasons you have to try to ruin it for them. Stop being an asshole. By the way, I'm not a fan of toby, but I like the song.

I lost my mother in law on 12/09/09 it was the hardest thing to have to go through. she was sick. My husband, her kids and her partner my mother along with her grand babies miss her so much. she had the biggest smile and and she could light up a room. She was so kind and would give any one anything if she had it. i miss her so much and my mother and i just watched the video and i heard the song earlier in the car i was listing to cat country 98.1 it made us sad but also happy that the song reminded us of her so much, that it is now our tribute song to her,So we wanted to say thank you to Toby for giving that to us. One of my favorite songs so far from you. it has a lot of meaning and we wanted to say thank you...GOD BLESS AND REST IN PEACE SANDRA COSTA & WAYMAN TISDALE GONE FROM OUR SIGHTS BUT NOT FROM OUR HEARTS. Andy says:

Posted: Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Sam, How do you really know what's in Toby Keith's heart. I'm far from a big fan of his but I never would portend to guess where his heart is in a song. The song is quite simple actually.

Sam says:

Posted: Tuesday, December 15, 2009

That may be. This may be a tribute but in no way is Toby speaking from his heart. I'm not saying he wasn't close to wayman tisdale but this song jazz beat and all was forced to put somthing out as a tribute and it just dosnt work this deffinitly will never go to 1 on the charts

Andy says:

Posted: Tuesday, December 15, 2009

All I'll add to this 'argument' is that this song isn't forced like Sam seems to think it is. It's "Jazzy" because Wayman Tisdale was a Jazz artist. Toby Keith is writing completely from the heart here.

Sam says:
