Mr. Powell, you did not work at Opryland in 1971. The park did not open until June 1972. You may have meant 1981. I knew Mr. Acuff as a kid; he'd go to the same small neighborhood grocery store where my parents and I went. Opryland was his dream, and he asked us kids what we wanted there. We all wanted a roller coaster. I said I wanted a little shop with bistro tables & chairs where people could eat ice cream. Later, I found just such a place in Opryland! Mr. Acuff was a willing ambassador to Opryland, as were Minnie Pearl and Porter Waggoner. Many times, I would see Mr. Waggoner walking thru the park with a beautiful showgirl on each arm!
