World Premiere: Mark Willenborg - "Tear In My Eye"

looking for Real. Country. Music? Country music that swings? Take a listen to this delightful swingin' tune from the newcomer from Austin, Texas.

There's the country music you hear on the radio and then there's Country Music and the latter kind is exactly what Mark Willenborg has with this fantastic, shuffling fiddle fueled piece of ear candy. The second single from Mark's debut album Cold Beer And Country Music, a record set to release on December 4, 2020. This song says so much about what we can expect from a new traditionalist on the scene and we're so delighted to premiere this and share it with y'all!

The list players on Cold Beer And Country Music reads like a who’s who of Austin country musicians with such names as the legendary Floyd Domino on piano (Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Asleep At The Wheel), Kevin Smith on bass (Willie Nelson) and several players from Robert Earl Keen’s band including the album's producer, Marty Muse, on steel guitar, Brian Beken on fiddle, Tom Van Shaik on drums. Other great Austin players included Bryce Clarke (formerly of Roger Creager’s band and currently with Aaron Watson) on guitars, Basil McJagger (The Derailers) on piano, Bracken Hale (The Derailers) on bass, Marc Redix (Eric Tessmer Band) on drums and Beth Chrisman (The Carper Family) on fiddle.

Below is what Mark had to say about the song himself:

"When I wrote the tune it had a different vibe. It was more of a Mickey Gilley, boogie-woogie piano thing. When I started playing it out with other musicians, it was clear that it wanted to be a western swing song. When we put it in the hands of the great players on this record it was just magic! Floyd Domino (Asleep At The Wheel, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings) told me, "That song really swings!" That's about the best compliment I can think of."
