When you get to the lauded level that the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has gotten to, it's easy to 'coast' with new releases that don't really have any difference from what's found in past recordings.  Thankfully, the NGDB isn't that kind of band.

Here's the 2nd single from Joey+Rory's debut album "The Life Of A Song."

At the suggestion of friends, Joey+Rory decided to enter CMT's "Can You Duet" despite never really actively singing together.  The husband-and-wife team wound up in the Top 3 of the show and gained a lot of loyal fans in the process. "The Life Of A Song" is their debut album and it showcases the suparstar vocals of Joey paired with her husband's wonderful songwriting.  It sounds perfect but do they have the songs to break through?

Coming virtually out of nowhere with a compelling, made-for-TV love story, Joey + Rory have proven that talent rises to the top.  Proof of that is this single which is Roughstock's 28th favorite single of the year.  Not bad for a duo that really didn't perform as one before 2008.

Rattlin’ Bones, the new album from Kasey Chambers and her husband Shane Nicholson is a quite reminder of how good a country album can be when it is stripped back to its purist and most simple form.   Rootsy, almost bluegrass, instrumentation permeates the entire release giving it an Appalachian feel that is accentuated by an abundance of minor key ballads.

The big news for Duhks fans, prior to the release of this album, was that lead singer Jess Havey and drummer Scott Senior left the band and were replaced by Sarah and Christian Dugas respectively.  With that cast change can longtime fans expect more of the same or a profound difference?

Vanguard/Sugar Hill Records is announced today the addition of Can You Duet's Joey+Rory to their venerable roster. The duo is currently in the studio with Grammy Award-winning producer Carl Jackson finishing their debut album, expected for a fall 2008 release.
