Moonshine Bandits - Whiskey and Women

This Review was written by Roughstock reader Betty Hames.

Within the first beats of "For The Outlawz" featuring Colt Ford, You instantly know that The Moonshine Bandits’ blend of country music is not Taylor Swifts' country (nor is it Waylon’s for that matter). On their new album Whiskey and Women, the California natives call upon a strong group of friends to help craft the Suburban Noize Records release.

Since 1999 Moonshine Bandits’ Tex and Bird have been bringing a unique blend of country rap that’s mixed with more than enough twangy southern rock that has appealed to ‘rednecks’ everywhere looking for something that’s not on corporate controlled playlists.  They call their followers the ever-growing “Shiner Nation.”

The Moonshine Bandits album features like-minded artists such as Colt Ford, Sunny Ledford, Mikel Knight and Rehab. To name a few the Bandits are doing "My Kind of Country" giving tributes to our soldiers with "American Pride". The Bandits are a long way from their hometown of "Los Bandos" as they play honky tonks, dive bars, and some biker bars the police department won't enter, sharing the stage with such familiar names as David Allen Coe and Shooter Jennings.

While the album certainly isn’t for everyone (maybe even most of the country music audience), the folks that take a chance on Moonshine Bandits are sure to love Whiskey and Women.

John, Each rating isn't compared to any other artist. It's based on the writer's opinion about the specific album.

4.5 stars for this album is far, far to generous...I'd rather listen to Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts and I never listen to either. These guys can make their music but labeling it country is about like saying dumping water on your pants won't make them wet.
