After dancing into America's hearts as a two-time winner on Dancing With The Stars, Julianne Hough has become a star of her own in the Country Music community with her self-titled debut album.  While that album sometimes felt a little forced, Julianne's second album of 2008, her Christmas EP Sold at Target Stores, "Sounds of the Season: Julianne Hough," finds her sounding quite natural. After the instrumental "Sounds of Christmas," Julianne rocks out, Christmas-style with infections versions of "Jingle Bell Rock," "Feliz Navidad" and "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree."

Phil Vassar joins Julianne on the amalgam of the modern classic "Mary Did You Know?" and Skip Ewing's "It Wasn't His Child."  Julianne Sings the words of "It Wasn't His Child" while Vassar sings the words of "Mary Did You Know."  It's a nice mixture of two well-written Christmas songs and the two voices of Vassar and Hough blend quite well.  Perhaps the duo will record a single or two in the future.  Julianne's version of "Santa Baby" fits nicely with her playful, perky personality while the album closes with the classic "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas."

Despite only really featuring 6 tracks (the short instrumental opens the album while Julianne's "Christmas Memories" is a 60 second talk segment), "Sounds Of The Season: Julianne Hough" is nonetheless a nice holiday treasure.

Yes, yes, but are any of the songs backed by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir? Enquiring minds want to know! (lol) I just don't care for Julianne's voice and the chewing gum TV commercial pushed me over the ledge.....
