Hank Williams, Jr. - 127 Rose Avenue

Hank Williams, Jr. overcame many obstacles early in his career, particularly the one where folks wanted him to be like his daddy, to become a massively successful singer/songwriter in his own right.  “127 Rose Avenue” is Hank Jr.’ s first release of all-new material since 2003’s “I’m One Of You.”  The album finds the now 60-year-old star’s firmly in control of art with an album that, while thoroughly modern in production,  features a cross-section of songs like the blues-y social discussion found on the first single “Red, White & Pink-Slip Blues,”  the rockin’ country sound of the fun, irreverent “Farm Song,” the traditional sounds of “Last Driftin’ Cowboy,” the blues of “127 Rose Avenue,”  and the contemporary country sound of “Sounds Like Justice,”

A lot of the songs on “127 Rose Avenue” deal with social issues and various life stories and these are the songs which always have been Hank Jr.’s strong point.  “Gulf Shore Road” and the title track are bluesy refrains about things from Hank Jr’s own life.   While “127 Rose Avenue” isn’t like his early decade rootsy album “The Almeria Club,” this record does belong on the shelves of every Hank Jr fan as it’s easily one of his better records since the 1980s, even if it may not hold mega hits or sell millions of records.

The Album 127 Rose Avenue is awesome! When I first got the ringtone for my cell and thought hmm could it be that Bocephus is going to do another album and this will be better than all the others he has put out and rank on the music charts to top 10. I believe so and I have very high vibes that this album will shine for many years when Bocephus runs for presidental vote. Way to go Bocephus!!! Love ya! See you in September 6th
