Gretchen Wilson - "I Got Your Country Right Here"
By: Matt Bjorke

If Gretchen Wilson can be accused of anything as a country music singer, it’s for consistently delivering the kind of music that got her to the dance in the first place. Her music is a brand of southern rock-inflicted country music with all of her attitude that was first showcased on “Redneck Women” and the Here for the Party album still intact. While Sony Nashville seemingly didn’t know what to do with her brand of music after merging Sony and BMG Nashville together, Gretchen certainly knows what she and her audience want. After getting “Work Hard, Play Harder” top 20 on her own record Redneck Records label, Gretchen has already returned to radio with “I Got Your Country Right Here,” which is also the title track of her current album.
Written by Tom Hambridge and Jeffrey Steele, “I Got Your Country Right Here” has a swampy guitar leading the bluesy ‘deep-fried’ southern rock melody which backs up lyrics which proclaim just what kind of music Gretchen loves, mixing in lyrics which describe Waylon, Hank Williams Jr., Charlie Daniels, Allman Brothers Band, etc. It’s the kind of song that basically describes the kind of band that plays any Friday night honky tonk. This song is all about going out and having a good time and that’s exactly what Gretchen Wilson wanted to achieve on her I Got Your Country Right Here album.
This single likely isn’t going to be a Top 10 smash hit for the artist but it should find a way to crack the Top 20 as Gretchen is committed to having hit singles on the radio and this one only re-enforces her brand as the go to ‘country rock’ female artist.
