Album Review: Ben Wells - "Ben Wells"
By: Matt Bjorke

Georgia has certainly become a hotbed for country music stars as of late with Lady Antebellum, Luke Bryan, Josh Kelley, Colt Ford, Brantley Gilbert and Jason Aldean among the notable country artists who hail from Georgia. Up an comers are also nipping at the heels of these stars including Thomas Rhett and Ben Wells, the latter whom has just released his self-titled album.
The record reminds me of a mixture of Luke Bryan's charm and Brantley Gilbert's tenor. "Tough" and "Daddy In Me" showcase this mixture the best with power ballad "Never Get Over You" showing the other side to Wells vocal ability. First single "Get Down" certainly is influenced by Aldean and Gilbert and there's certainly nothing wrong with that.
In many ways, Ben Wells showcases the potential for another country/rock star. Currently touring the southeast to receptive audiences, there's quite a bit to like about this record. Certainly if fans of Gilbert, Aldean, Parmalee, Church and other country/rockers are looking for another good artist in the growing southern country/rock revolution, Ben Wells is the one to look up.
