After moving from his hometown of Anacortes, Washington to Nashville in 2017, Joey Hendricks was quick to network within the country music songwriting community, immersing himself within that cabal of talented poets, singers and musicians and coming out the other side with a publishing deal with Parallel Entertainment where Tim Hunze, the company's leader, offered up encouragement for Joey to leap into his solo artistry by laying down a couple of his own tracks in the studio for himself. Inspired by roots rock pioneer Neil Young and modern roots rock singer/songwriter/guitarist John Mayer, Hendricks offers up music that threads a tight needle touching on timeless heartland rock themes (nostalgia and restlessness among them) while telling the stories in a country storytelling tradition.
It is that blend of tradition that brought Hendricks to the attention of Sony Music Nashville, who quickly signed him up to a recording contract. While not officially assigned to one of their imprints yet (Columbia, RCA, Arista), he will release his debut single "Yours or Mine" this Friday, July 24, 2020.
“All I’ve ever wanted to do was make music,” Hendricks responded. “I’m so grateful that Sony saw something in me, and that I get to continue living out this crazy dream with such a great team around me.”
