After making history on Country Aircheck/Mediabase as the first singer to have a self-released song (without a proper record label or promotions team) score a place in the Mediabase Top 50, Scotty McCreery has put pen to paper today and signed a record deal with upstart label Triple Tigers Records in affiliation with Sony Music Entertainmen’s The Orchard distribution arm. The label is also home to rising country star Russell Dickerson.
“Five More Minutes,” the song to break all the rules and records, debuted with 22k singles sold and a #6 slot on the Top Digital Country Singles Sales Chart and that represented his best placement on that chart since his debut in 2011. Now, Scotty’s ready to break out even more and is proud of his single’s accomplishments so far, “That’s awesome!” said a stunned McCreery.
“‘Five More Minutes’ is such a personal song for me and it feels like it’s become very personal for the radio listeners and concert audiences as well. To learn that it made chart history is mind-blowing. I’m proud of all the hard work that my team and I have done on our own, and I cannot wait to see what we are able to achieve working with my new family at Triple Tigers Records.”
The single will be properly worked to radio by Triple Tigers radio team and it’s already at #40 on the Billboard Country Airplay and #46 on Country Aircheck/Mediabase this week.
For his part in signing his new record label, snooty had this to say: “I’m very excited to become part of the Triple Tigers/Sony Music Entertainment family. They believe in me and my music, they work hard, and for being a brand new company, they are already succeeding. I am fired up to see what we can achieve together.”
Triple Tigers is equally excited. “We are very proud to represent Scotty McCreery,” said Triple Tigers Records General Manager Norbert Nix. “He is an absolute pro and an artist of great integrity. We were blown away when we heard ‘Five More Minutes’ and are looking forward to representing Scotty’s new music to his millions of fans.”
