Keith Urban Releases Carrie Underwood Duet

Superstar keeps the pedal to the medal with the energetic crossover-ready "The Fighter" being released to country radio.

With multiple Grammys under his belt, Keith Urban has announced the fifth single from his album Ripcord. “The Fighter,” a duet with seven-time grammy winner Carrie Underwood, is the follow-up to the multi-week #1 “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” the 6th consecutive #1 from Urban.

“Writing “The Fighter” came (together) pretty quickly,” said Urban. “I could hear most of the song already in my head on the ride to the studio that day, where busbee and I were already working. I was thinking about how long it’d been since I heard a song with a guy and a girl actually speaking back and forth to each other.”

“It comes from a very real place,” he said. “It’s a song about helping to heal and protect someone you love. It’s a song about reassurance that you’ll always be there to take the blows the world can throw. Carrie and I had sung together before I thought our voices blended really well — so she was unquestionably the right choice. It was such a relief that she wanted to do it.

For her part, Underwood is very happy to sing the tune with her pal, Keith Urban. “I loved the song when I first heard it and was excited to work with Keith on new music. I had such a great time touring Australia and New Zealand with him in December and can’t wait to perform “The Fighter” on The Grammy’s!

The song will make it’s broadcast TV debut when Underwood takes the stage alongside Urban at the 59th Grammy Awards this coming Sunday, February 12, 2017,
