Maddie & Tae Preview “Start Here” in Nashville

Duo behind “Girl In A Country Song” share songs and stories behind new album with packed crowd.

Taking place at the Cordelle home near downtown Nashville, the duo performed some of their songs from the album Start Here including current hit single “Fly” and the #1 hit, “Girl In A Country Song.” The latter hit was officially certified Platinum and the duo was surprised by Scott Borchetta and label GM Chris Stacey with their Platinum certification plaques while the crowd of family, friends and industry on hand. The song has earned multiple CMA, ACM and CMT nominations and garnered over 28 million views. The guests were gifted digital copies of Start Here upon exit.

“We are so excited!” exclaimed Tae about START HERE. “We have been writing this album since we were fifteen years old so you will hear our stories and about our lives from the past five years.”

Added Maddie, “We purposefully made a record that covered so many topics and sounded different so we didn’t pigeonholed ourselves.”

A highlight of the event came during the middle of the evening when they introduced a surprise guest, and their idol, Lee Ann Womack. The Country icon came out and sang her 1998 hit “A Little Past Little Rock” with the girls who have looked up to her as an artist since they were kids.

Superstar Dierks Bentley also sent the girls a note via video in which he raved, “Maddie & Tae, as performers, they are great and they are light years ahead of where I was at that age…they are gamers. You know they will be around for a long time.”

As they ramp-up their new release festivities the next few weeks, Maddie & Tae are set to appear on The Today Show among other high-profile appearances.
