Jennifer Nettles Splits With Mercury Nashville

Award-winning vocalist splits from the only major record label she's ever known (as a solo artist).

Country music recording star Jennifer Nettles has left Mercury Records and UMG as a solo artist after one album. The news may come as a shock as she had just released the single "Sugar" to country radio a couple of weeks back with a forthcoming add date for the single. Obviously the single is being pulled from promotion.

Jennifer released "That Girl" in 2014 to great fanfare with a #1 chart debut, hundreds of thousands of copies sold and critical acclaim. The powerful artist is also 1/2 of Sugarland, who will REMAIN Mercury/Nashville artists. Her Sugarland partner, Kristian Bush, records for Streamsound Records as a solo artist.

No word was leaked as to why the splitting from Mercury. We'll let you know more as it develops. Until then, what do you think of this news?
