John Berry Celebrates 20 Years With New Book

“Songs and Stories” book where country vocalist/songwriter talks about his favorite songs.

With music that still gets routine play on “Icon” style stations which mix the 1990s with music all the way up today, John Berry is ready to share his thoughts on some of his most-iconic and favorite hits through the release of his new book Songs And Stories.

The book starts with “Standing On The Edge Of Goodbye,” a song which was inspired by a conversation with a friend who sought John’s marriage advice (the couple is still together). The song hit the #1 slot on the Radio and Records chart and #2 on Billboard’s country single chart in 1995 (it also was a return for the singer after a nearly fatal injury). The song is joined by stories about his other staples like “If I Had Any Pride Left At All” and “Your Love Amazes Me,” the talented vocalist’s — one of the best ever to grace country music’s radio charts — first #1 hit.

While the book covers those hits, it also covers some songs that were personal favorites to John Berry, including “Salvation,” a Gary Burr-penned song taken from Berry’s 1999 release Wildest Dreams. The song actually has become a favorite of truck drivers nationwide as it tells a story of a truck driver in the lyrics. There are also stories to “Annie’s Song,” a song Berry has covered and serves as great inspiration to his own life. Meanwhile, there’s a story on the classic Christmas song “O Holy Night,” and the effect the song has had on his family.
