It's not every day a newcomer on the country music scene gets a prime opening act slot with the likes of someone like Hunter Hayes. But for Dan + Shay, that's exactly what happened in early 2014 for their first major tour.
"Oh man … it's been so much fun," Shay tells Roughstock. "Huge thanks to Hunter. He's just been so inviting to us … always inviting us to do stuff on his bus and hang out. Everybody in the crew's just really cool to each other. It's been really cool to get to know him and Danielle Bradberry, who has been on the tour as well. She's been great. We're having a blast. It's been a great tour. The fans are amazing. Everybody's just fantastic."
"Yeah, the Hunter tour has been great," Dan adds. "He's such a talented guy, and his show is so put together. It's an inspiration to see. He's been doing this for a little while, and it's something for us to strive towards. We've got to practice because he's so good. He's incredible. The fans have been awesome, too, and super supportive of us. We are a new artist. We haven't been out there on the road long, but they're taking us in and making us feel welcome and singing our song to us … holding 'plus' signs in the air."
Following the Hunter Hayes tour, the hot new duo will hit the road with Blake Shelton on the Ten Times Crazier tour, before heading out on their own headlining trek later this fall.
