The Cadillac Three Are All About "The South"

Rising stars discuss their debut single for Big Machine Records and what it means to them to be from The South.

Fans are relating quite well with The Cadillac Three's latest single, "The South," which is blazing up the country singles chart. Why is that? Maybe because the band and the sole songwriter behind the song -- TC3's Jaren Johnston -- know all too well what "The South" is all about!

“[It's] an epic, Southern song that hits you immediately the first time you hear it," Johnston tells Radio.com. "You know it’s a serious situation you just heard. That’s what I wanted to do. I sat down and wrote that.”

Johnston and his fellow bandmates, Neil Mason and Kelby Ray, all hail from Nashville, Tenn. where they went to school together and have shared passion for music since high school. They spent years forming various bands, before settling on the name The Cadillac Three where they have been making their mark in country music.

The band released their self-titled debut last May on Big Machine and are currently working on its followup with producers Dann Huff and Justin Niebank.

“We’re just soaking it in,” Mason says.

Look for The Cadillac Three to be on the road this summer with Jake Owen on the star's Days of Gold Tour.
