Country Album Chart News For March 6, 2013: The Return of The Mavericks & Emmylou Harris

The Mavericks score their biggest debut on the Top Country Albums chart since 1994 while also having an even more remarkable Top 200 Albums achievement. Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell score a remarkable debut as well. Read on to learn all about the Top 10 and 5 notable releases here!

New Mavericks and Rodney Crowell/Emmylou Harris albums and Amazon sales help Country Music’s Top 10 take ¼ of the Top 40.

Taylor Swift once again has the best-selling country album in the USA but the real story this week isn’t that album or even Florida Georgia Line’s rise to #2 with Here’s To The Good Times but rather how Old Yellow Road from Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell debuts in the Top 5 with 16,000 fans picking up a copy of the longtime friends album (Crowell was once a member of Harris’ band in the 1970s before going solo). Tim McGraw sits at #3 between FGL and the Emmylou/Rodney duets project with “Two Lanes Of Freedom” while #5 holds Little Big Town’s soon to be Platinum album Tornado.

The Mavericks Return To Chart after a Decade Away with “In Time” scoring a Top 10 debut, their highest Country Albums placement since 1998’s “Trampoline”

Jason Aldean’s Night Train continues to move units as does Hunter Hayes’ self-titled Atlantic Nashville debut. The big story of the week here - though - is the remarkable debut from The Mavericks. Their #8 placement on this week’s chart is their second best ever, only after break-out album What A Crying Shame nearly 20 years ago. The #37 slot on the Billboard Top 200 is their all-time high on the chart, giving the unique band their biggest debut position ever with their Valory Music Co. debut In Time. Gary Allan’s Set You Free sits at #9 this week with another solid collection of sales to bring the album featuring “Pieces” and “Every Storm” into the top. Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away rounds out the Top 10 this week.

The Lone Bellow Rides Amazon Sale with nearly all 9,000 albums being sold digitally this week!

Our five noteworthy records of the week starts with a look at The Lone Bellow’s self-titled album. One of our 2013 New Aritsts To Watch, the album has now sold 25k and the Amazon sale helped the band score their best week since dropping the album in January. Zac Brown Band scored a nice sales increase to bring 14,000 more fans into the Zamily fold while Rascal Flatts have nearly scanned Gold with Changed. Katie Armiger returns to this rundown as well with her breakout recording Fall Into Me while Easton Corbin’s All Over The Road isn’t on the SoundScan Top 200 Albums chart, we wanted to share the album’s milestone of surpassing 100k sold with y’all.

Next week we’ll see Luke Bryan debut at #1 with his Spring Break album. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the Top 10 shapes up. As always tune in here, same time, same channel!
