2012 ACM Awards Nominees Announced

Today the ACM Award Nominations for 2012 were announced and Kenny Chesney leads the nominations with nine and is followed by Jason Aldean with six and Lady Antebellum with five, Brad Paisley with four and four other artists with three each. Read on to find out more.

The songs nominated for Single Record of the Year are "Crazy Girl," "Don't You Wanna Stay," "Red Solo Cup," "Tomorrow," and "You and Tequila." as singles each of these songs makes a lot of sense but the inclusion of "Red Solo Cup" is sure to surprise many.

The Song of the Year category is an award that goes to the songwriter(s), their publishers and the artist. "Crazy Girl" - written by Liz Rose and Lee Brice - and "You And Tequila" - written by Matraca Berg and Deana Carter -  are the only two repeats from the Single Record of the Year list. Dierks Bentley's "Home," Lady Antebellum's "Just A Kiss," and Vince Gill's fantastic "Threaten Me With Heaven" are the other nominees. This award is a songwriting award more than a performance award so it's awesome to see Gill get nominated for a song that didn't get much love as a radio single but rivials "Home" and "You and Tequila" as the best-written songs here.

The Album of the Year category features Chief from Eric Church, Four The Record from Miranda Lambert,  My Kinda Party from Jason Aldean, Hemingway's Whiskey from Kenny Chesney, and Own The Night from Lady Antebellum.

Entertainer of the Year features returning nominees Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and Taylor Swift along with first-time nominees, Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton.

The Male vocalist nominees are Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and in a mild surpise but well deserved, Chris Young. The female category features the only five females to regularly grace the Top 20 at country radio this year in Carrie Underwood, Sara Evans, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Taylor Swift.

The Vocal Group of the Year features The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts and Zac Brown Band. The Vocal Duo of the Year is joined by Montgomery Gentry, Steel Magnolia, Sugarland, Thompsan Square and Love and Theft.

The Vocal Event of the Year category features the songs "Don't You Wanna Stay" from Aldean/Clarkson, "Old Alabama" from Brad Paisley and Alabama, "Remind Me" from Paisley and Carrie Underwood, "You and Tequila" from Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter and finally, the biggest surprise nominee, perhaps, "Country Boy," Aaron Lewis featuring George Jones and Charlie Daniels.

Video of the Year features the videos for "Tattoos On This Town" from Jason Aldean, "Homeboy" from Eric Church, "Red Solo Cup" from Toby Keith, "Just A Kiss" from Lady Antebellum and "Mean" from Taylor Swift.

There's a new songwriter of the year category and it features Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip along with Luke Laird and David Lee Murphy. Producer  of the Year features Mark Bright, Buddy Cannon, Nathan Chapman, Jay Joyce and Frank Liddell.
