Weekly Country News Round-Up: Week Of September 3, 2010

This week featured news about the 44th CMA Awards nominees (Miranda Lambert lead all nominees with 9), Little Big Town's big debut on the albums chart, Joey+Rory's upcoming tour with an icon and Brooks & Dunn's final concert in Nashville.

Miranda Lambert Leads 44th CMA Awards Nominations

With nine nominations, Miranda Lambert leads the 44th CMA Awards nominee list and it’s a new record for female artists.  Alan Jackson received 10 nominations in 2002.  Merle haggard scored nine nominations in 1970.  Lady Antebellum was next on the list with five nominations while the Zac Brown Band was third with four of their own nominations, a place that found the popular band tied with Blake Shelton, who scored his first Male Vocalist nomination along with single, musical event and music video nominations.  Trace Adkins scored three nominations himself for his part of the “Hillbilly Bone” nominations.  Click here to check out the other nominees, including an Entertainer of the Year list that includes three fresh nominees.

Brooks and Dunn Final Concert Packs Nashville

For their 'last ever' concert, the most popular duo in country music history (with 14 Duo of the Year CMA Awards - likely 15 soon) finished out their Last Rodeo tour last night in Nashville.

Steel Magnolia Re-Schedule Album Release Date

Originally expected to be released later this month, Steel Magnolia’s debut album will instead be issued in January 2011.  The move is most likely to have the CMA Awards-nominated duo avoid getting lost in the massive pile of major new releases scheduled for the fall/winter time period.

Joey+Rory Scheduled To Tour with Don Williams

Fresh off the heels of touring with the Zac Brown Band, Joey+Rory are set to join country legend Don Williams on a tour that will last for a month, beginning September 30. The duo’s sophomore album Album Number Two comes out on September 14, 2010.
