Lady Antebellum Returns To Top of the Charts

Well, it only took one week for country music's juggernaut of 2010 to retain the title as America's best-selling country artist as their album Need You Now unseated Jerrod Niemann's Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury after only one week on top. How did the rest

After one week as the best-selling country album, Jerrod Niemann’s debut album Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury slides to third place this week as Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now and Zac Brown Band’s The Foundation are the top selling albums this week on the SoundScan Hot 200 Albums chart.   Miranda Lambert’s Revolution follows next while this week’s holder of the #1 single, Carrie Underwood is next with Play On.  The album has spawned three consecutive #1 singles with Carrie having 13 such hits to her credit.

Taylor Swift’s Fearless is nearing the end of its ‘glamorous’ run on the charts and while rumors persist that she could get the first 1-million copies sold week in over two years, I have a feeling that her upcoming album will do somewhere between 600 and 800 thousand copies when released in October.  Dierks Bentley’s Up On The Ridge retains the same chart position on both the Nielsen Hot 200 Albums chart and the Hot Country Albums tally.  Singer/songwriter Jaron Lowenstein’s Jaron & The Long Road To Love is next with another 8,000 fans taking his album home, giving him 66,502 copies sold of Getting Dressed In The Dark.  Luke Bryan’s still doing his thing with the nineth best-selling country album this week.  Doin’ My Thing features two #1 hits in “Do I” and “Rain is a Good Thing” and he’s gearing up to have another one as “Someone Else Calling You Baby” goes to radio.  Brad Paisley’s American Saturday Night is next and it has officially passed the 600,000 albums scanned mark as Brad looks to release another single from the album.

Jewel’s Sweet and Wild is next and has found nearly 82,500 homes in seven weeks on the charts.  The lone country newcomer this week on the Nielsen SoundScan charts is the fun Sweet Home Alabama: A Country Music Tribute To Lynyrd Skynyrd. It sold over 5,500 copies as a Walmart exclusive.  Easton Corbin’s Easton Corbin album joined Luke Bryan’s Doin’ My Thing as one of the few country recordings to find more homes this week than last week while Brooks & Dunn inches ever so close to the 400,000 albums scanned mark as they’re just 20 units shy of this level.  Lady Antebellum’s eponymous debut sits, once again, as one of the Top 15 country albums on the Hot 200 Albums chart.

Jason Aldean has the 16th best-seller this week and his Wide Open (which looks to be done giving country radio singles) leads the ‘interesting’ albums section this week.  Colt Ford’s Chicken & Biscuits continues to move copies and now has sold nearly 82,000 copies since its debut on the charts.  Josh Turner’s Haywire is marching its way towards 300,000 copies scanned while Lee Brice looks to top the 40,000 units scanned mark next week as his hit title track Love Like Crazy  looks to break the 50 week barrier at radio.  Blake Shelton’s  Hillbilly Bone is set to be replaced in two weeks by  All About Tonight as Blake’s current album but the former did its job by helping Blake sell more copies (225,000 so far) than his last album Startin’ Fires did.  With All About Tonight coming out, chances are that Blake will sell even more Hillbilly Bone albums as fans snatch up both copies in August.

Next week will see the arrival of roots artist John Brannen’s  Bravado and American Idol alum Michael Sarver’s self-titled debut album. We’ll see if they move enough copies to place on the charts.  We’ll let you know how they do.
