Last week we told you that Brooks & Dunn’s TV Special would affect some albums on this week’s Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Albums chart and that’s exactly what The Last Rodeo did. The retiring duo’s career-spanning #1’s…And then Some jumped a whopping 50 spots (7 on the country chart) on this week’s chart to gain this week’s second best-selling album, after the remarkable Need You Now from Lady Antebellum. The Zac Brown Band’s nearly double platinum –it’s already certified double platinum for shipments to retailers [sales in the minds of record labels] –The Foundation is third this week while a surprising entry on this week’s Hot 200 Chart is the latest (and last) Curb Records release from Hank III. Rebel Within found its way into the homes of over 17,000 people last week while Carrie Underwood’s Play On moved up the Hot 200 Albums chart but slid to the fifth slot on this week’s Hot Country Albums tally.

Miranda Lambert’s Revolution, which features this week’s #1 single (her second in a row) in “The House That Built Me,” sits as the sixth best-selling country album this week while Wynonna’s Cracker Barrel exclusive album Love Heals enters the chart at 31 with nearly 12,000 copies sold in its first week. Taylor Swift’s Fearless continues to march towards 6x platinum while it’s followed-up on the charts by Zac Brown and Friends’ Pass The Jar live album. The Crazy Heart soundtrack (which won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for “Best Song” in Ryan Bingham’s “The Weary Kind,”) has now moved over 240,000 copies. It was this week’s tenth best-selling album on the Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Albums chart.

Lady Antebellum’s self-titled album continues to sell well despite being over two years old. The Latest album from Jason Aldean is right behind it as Wide Open slid over the 1.2 million mark this past week. Current single “Crazy Town” could give the artist yet another chart-topping hit (even if it’s not the greatest of songs). Luke Bryan’s also comfortably sitting in the upper reaches of the chart with “Rain is a Good Thing.” The single is from this week’s 13th best-selling country album Doin’ My Thing. John Prine’s live In Person & On Stage sits comfortably next with a Top 15 debut (giving the chart three new albums this week). Colt Ford’s Chicken & Biscuits rounds out the Hot 200’s Top 15 country albums this week and the album is nearing 50,000 copies sold and it should, over time, have no problem catching up to Ride Through The Country’s sales numbers.

In the interesting albums section this week, we take a look at four up-and-coming artists and one established star’s albums. Chris Young’s The Man I Want To Be sits at 93 this week on the Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Albums chart as his record now is closer to Gold than it ever has been before. With a couple more hits like the title tune and “Getting’ You Home,” Chris just might get there. Rumors are that “Voices” will be re-released as the new single (it was a Top 40 hit in 2008). Laura Bell Bundy’s Achin’ & Shakin’ album sits at 97 this week and found nearly 5,000 more fans’ homes giving her over 63,000 fans.
With a couple more successful singles the singer will find the album inching its way back up the charts, something that should happen for this week’s 105th best-seller, Easton Corbin’s self-titled debut. With a #1 hit under his belt in “A Little More Country Than That” and a Top 40 hit in “Roll With It,” things are looking good for the newcomer most oft-compared to George Strait. Blake Shleton’s Hillbilly Bone has eclipsed the 200,000 albums sold mark this week. This puts the SixPak at roughly the same sales mark as his last album Startin’ Fires had. Shelton’s next SixPak will feature the current single “All About Tonight” and at least one more single in the six-song album. American Idol’s Danny Gokey is set to release a strong second single from My Best Days in the next few weeks and if it does as well as it’s expected to, the song will help reverse this album’s sales fortunes and give Gokey a shot at getting near the 200k albums sold mark sooner rather than later.
