It was announced today that country music icon Loretta Lynn would be receiving the "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Recording Academy this Grammy season. The legend will be honored for nearly 50 years of great performances. The ceremony will take place at an invite-only event the same week as the Grammy Awards are held. Loretta will be acknowledged during the telecast as well.
Joining the legendary singer of hits like "I'm A Honky Tonk Girl" and "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin' (With Lovin' On Your Mind)" at the ceremony will be Nashville studio legend Harold Bradley, often cited as the 'most recorded person in history,' and longtime CMA Awards show producer Walter Miller will receive "Foundation Awards" from the Recording Academy.
Other artists receiving Lifetime Achievement awards are Leonard Cohen, Bobby Darin, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Michael Jackson, André Previn, and Clark Terry. The other Foundation Award winners are AKG and Thomas Alva Edison. Both awards are voted on by the Recording Academy's National Board of Trustees.
