Reba Tops Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Chart

It was another strong week at retail for country music as Reba's Keep On Loving You gave the genre its third chart-topping week, after the Number One debuts of Sugarland's Live On The Inside and George Strait's Twang.  How did the rest of the chart shake out?

For the third consecutive week, a country music artist tops the Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Albums Chart.  Two weeks ago it was Sugarland with their Live On The Inside CD/DVD set then last week George Strait scored with his Twang album and now Reba McEntire arrives on the top of the chart with Keep On Loving You.  This is Reba’s second time topping the Hot 200 Albums chart as the Starstruck Records/Valory Music Company set moved nearly 100,000 copies in its first week.

The Hannah Montana Movie soundtrack bounced back into the Top 10 of the chart, landing this week’s third best-selling album.  The fourth best-selling country album this week belongs to Reba’s label mate Taylor Swift and her Fearless album.  Rounding out the Top 5 country albums this week is the Zac Brown Band’s recently platinum The Foundation.  It has now scanned nearly 900,000 copies at retail (both traditional and digital).

The second half of the top 10 country albums on the Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Albums chart is lead by Jason Aldean with his Wide Open album for Broken Bow Records.  The third album from Aldean has now moved over 500,000 copies while also featuring two Number One hits as “Big Green Tractor” joins first single “She’s Country” at the top of the charts this week.

Last Week’s tenth best seller, Justin Moore finds his self-titled album in the seventh position on this week’s chart as his “Small Town USA” single continues its climb up the charts.  Justin has now sold over 50,000 copies of his album in two weeks.

Sugarland’s former #1 album mentioned above is the eighth best-selling country record this week and that set has now moved nearly 122,000 copies in three weeks on the charts.  Darius Rucker’s “Learn To Live” finds itself in ninth place on this week’s tally of Top 10 country albums on the Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Albums chart.  The album features three Number One hits and looks like the fourth single “History In The Making” may follow-suit.  Emblem/Warner Brothers artists Gloriana continue to sell well in their fourth week on the charts with their self-titled debut album.  It features the Top 15 hit “Wild At Heart” and future single “How Far Do You Wanna Go.”

Colt Ford continues to be a remarkable self-made independent success as he moved another 3,000 copies of Ride Through The Country.  The album, which hasn’t had any major hits, has now sold over 66,000 copies.  Colt’s friends, Trailer Choir enjoyed a nice week as well as their debut EP Off The Hillbilly Hook moved over 2500 copies to give the trio over 12,000 EPs sold.  The EP features their hit single “Rockin The Beer Gut.”
