Caroline Kole - "If He'd Ever Look Up"

Written by Caroline Kole and Bobby Hamrick. Released in 2014 by Caroline Kole.

I see him there in a coffee shop, so I sit across not too far away
Hopin’ we’ll meet eye to eye and then say “Hi” but all I do is wait
If he’d ever look up from that screen, if he’d ever look up he’d see me

But he’s checkin’ the news and the game and the weather
Watchin’ the time and the mail but he never lifts his eyes from the desk, chin from the chest
He’d maybe see love if he’d ever look up

I guess it’s just how we grew up, with all this stuff getting in the way
I wanna turn all the blinking lights off tonight, we’d be face to face
If he’d ever look up from that screen, if he’d ever look up he’d see me

But he’s checking the news and the game and the weather
Watching the time and the mail but he never lifts his eyes from the desk, chin from the chest
He’d maybe see love if he’d ever look up

If these distractions weren’t around we’d be talkin’ by now
But he’ll never look up, he’ll never look up, he’ll never, he’ll never look, he’ll never look up
He’ll never look up, he’ll never look up, he’ll never

If he’d ever look up from that screen, if he’d ever look up he’d see me
But he’s checkin’ the news and the game and the weather
Watchin’ the time and the mail but he never lifts his eyes from the desk, chin from the chest
He’d maybe see love if he’d ever look up.
If he’d ever look up.
If he’d ever look up.
