Roger McGuinn - "May The Road Rise To Meet You"

#

This one is still a bit rough, I think Roger tunes his 12 string down a tone
and plays it in F, any revisions etc are most welcome.

May The Road Rise To Meet You

INTRO: G Am7 G Am7 G D7 G

D C G Em
Summertime, the sunshine we'd lay across the field
C Am D Dsus4 D Dsus2 etc
Sheltered in the shadow of a tree
C Em D G Em
We'd write our poems to take along and sing out on the road
C C/B Am D
And you would always sing this song to me

C Em D
May the road rise to meet you
G D Em
May the wind be at your back
C D G
May the sun shine warm upon your land
C C/B D
May the rain fall soft upon your face
G Em
Until we meet again
C C/B D G
May God hold you in the palm of his hand

Autumn leaves would change our tree to colours on the ground
Swirling patterns beautiful to see
I'd lay my head down on your lap, I wouldn't make a sound
Then you would always sing this song to me

Through the winter days our tree would shiver in the wind
Waiting for the warming touch of spring
I'd hold you in the firelight, we'd stare into the flames
And this is what you always used to sing
