I'M ALWAYS ON A MOUNTAIN WHEN I FALL

     Recorded by: Merle Haggard
Found on Best of Merle Haggard CD
     Submitted by: George Richardson

I play a cord string at the begging of the song, and play it again
     for the interlude.

     (Em, F, Dm, G7, C)

     (C) Most of my life I've almost been a (G7) winner. I've come so
close but never really (C) won. Just when I thought I finally
     (F) made it. I (G7) found myself back where I started (C) from.

     CHORUS:
(Em) I hate to say I'm (Am) giving up but I (F) believe, (G7) losin's
just become a way of (C) life for me. (Em) Losin' wouldn't be so
bad at (F) all. But I'm (Dm) always on a (G7) mountain when I
     (F) fall.

     INTERLUDE: (Em, F, Dm, G7, C)

     (C) Then you came along and had me, had me (G7) believin', for once
in my life my luck had finally (C) changed. And now you say you're
gonna (F) leave me. (G7) Seems everything I do winds up the (C) same.
     (TO CHORUS)
