Keep on strumming, and thanks to all of you at Roughstock/Cowpie for making this archive available! Andrew SONG: Wave on Wave ARTIST: Pat Green Transcribed by: Andrew Spencer, thanks to Joshua Wade (jwo01a@acu.edu), Gary Underhill (Underhillg43@wmconnect.com), and Brian Ophoff (BOphoff@msn.com) for posting the beds individually/separately. Played open tuning.... intro 4 bars picked (easily) up around 10th fret over basic strum pattern of D...sus2...sus4... D and so on. Use a tight delay or (not as good) a chorus pedal to get the echo effect. Wish I could be more specific, but I'm having an "I can't tell you but I'll show you" moment! To play each chord progression is pretty simple... kind of like John Lennon's "War is Over", only faster... listen to the song to get the feel for the strum pattern. Progression is played over a full bar. Christian players, take note: This song struck me as a very soulful piece the first time I heard it. I wouldn't have been at all surprised to learn it was a cover of an old Stax Records song from the 60's or 70's. It wasn't, however, this song can easily be transformed into a Gospel piece by changing a few words. "His" for "the" in the first verse before "name"; "He" for "she" in the second verse before "found me" and before "you know I always had ya"; plus capitalizing He and You as applicable throughout. Make a joyful noise.... I may send this off to Re-Versed Lyrics so they can post it there too! A Asus2 Asus4 A D Dsus2 Dsus4 D I'm just lookin' for a happy endin', all I'm lookin' for is you. D Dsus2 Dsus4 D G Gsus2 Gsus4 G (Chorus) You came upon me, wave on wave. You're the reason I'm still here, yeah. A Asus2 Asus4 A D Dsus2 Dsus4 D Am I the one you were sent to save? You came upon me, wave on wave. (Verse 2) I wandered out into the water, an' I thought that I might drown. I don't know what I was after, just know I was goin' down. And that's when she found me, not afraid anymore. She said: "You know, I always had you, baby. Just waitin' for you to find what you were lookin' for." (Chorus) Bridge: G C G G C D Wave on wave. Wave on wave. (Instrumental on Verse over D/Dsus4) (Chorus) An' you came upon me, wave on wave. You're the reason I'm still here, yeah. Am I the one you were sent to save? You came upon me, wave on wave. The clouds broke and the angels cried: "You ain't gotta walk alone." That's why he put me in your way. When you came upon me wave on wave. (Repeat Chorus)
