COWPIE Newsletter

You can view all of the past COWPIE newsletters in our archive. The most recent newsletters are in an uncompressed format. The older issues are compressed using GNU gzip format. Most UNIX systems should have a gzip utility to handle these formats, and popular Windows-based programs such as WinZip will handle gzipped files.

A typical COWPIE newletter will contain the following:

Foreman's Bull

This is an area for me to make relevant comments about the state of COWPIE at the moment.

Overheard at the Feed Trough

This is an area where subscribers can include miscellaneous information and questions. Typically this includes a request for songs to be included into future editions of the newsletter.

List of songs in this issue

The list of songs is in the same order in which the songs appear in the newsletter.

Individual songs

Each song includes the title of the song, the performer of the song and the e-mail address of the person who submitted the song. The name or names of the composers may also be indicated. The chords supplied are determined by the person who submitted the song and not by consulting published music. Your interpretation of the chords may differ but at least you have a good starting point.

Lessons

Occassionally a short lesson in some aspect of music theory or guitar playing will be presented. This feature is present only when I have the time or can find someone else with the time to include a lesson.

Legal matters

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.

Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

New issues of the newsletter go out whenever I get 20 songs or once a week whichever comes first and they tend to be somewhere in the 50K size range.

Subscribing/Unsubscribing to the Newsletter

If you are interested in being added to the automatic distribution list please sign up on the subscribe page. An automated welcome document will soon be e-mailed back to you. In the event that you might want to unsubscribe from the newsletter, that is also done on the subscribe page. Even change of address concerns can be handled there by unsubscribing with the old address, then subscribing with the new one.
