Wynonna Judd Thinks CMA Voters Errored in Voting for Taylor?

Entertainer of the Year this year, insisting it's "too much...too soon" for the teenage superstar.
The Big Machine Records hitmaker, 19, made history at the CMA Awards on Wednesday night when she became the youngest person ever to win the prestigious accolade. Swift stole the Nashville, Tennessee show by taking home gold in every category she was nominated in, including Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Fearless and Music Video of the Year for Love Story.
But Judd, 45, is not convinced the singer fully deserves to win the award at such a young age - because she will have nothing to aim for in her career if she lands all the big prizes so early on in life. She told USA Today "You want my honest comment? It's too much too soon. Time is God's way of keeping everything from happening at once. It's just too much of a good thing too soon."
"My thing is, being a home-school mom, I want kids to earn it, and I think some time... 'cause mom and I rode in a car for the first year of our career to visit radio stations. There was a making of the star, there was a rising up, and the fans went with us.
"Now it's over coffee breaks, the success, almost. You have to play catch up... It's like the girl who wins an Oscar and she's under 20. What do you do from here?"
Note: here's Wynonna's release that is meant to clarify her statement:
"I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift’s Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement. My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry...all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of ANY age. Taylor is a beautiful, hard working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business."
What are your thoughts on this? It seems as if the backlash for Miss Swift winning these awards has, to quote the Carpenters, only just begun.

Has anyone noticed that when Taylor performs she flips her hair around a lot? What is up with that anyway?

Were 4 year olds running the CMA Awards this year? because that seems to be the age group that likes her. That has to be the reason she took everything. They certainly couldnt have been adults because she wouldnt have got all the awards that she did.

Hate to allude to Idol but isn't it a "singing contest?" Just having an audience cannot make you a winner....not in the vocalist category at least. Wyn...you can be right and be forced to be quiet when you are famous...you live on tx and cd sales...what a world...how many songs did Taylor write alone? Who choreographed the dance? She is just a kid just starting...ease up and don't expect her here as long as Reba and the likes.

Taylor, why don't you take a break. Go to college somewhere, take voice lessons, anything just to give us a break from hearing about you 24/7. The industry has run her in the ground and put a bad tast in most of our mouths for her.

however, let me say this, just because Wynonna and her mom drove around in a car and had it a little more difficult to start (not really difficult, but you know what I mean, they got talent) doesn't mean that in todays age people have to break their back to be famous... if you become famous and it didn't take a lot of work so what, don't hack on them just because it was hard for you... physically speaking not talent wise. today we have email, twitter, facebook, internet, wireless comms, et al. back then all they had was a carberator and a radio tower... ease up on taylor.

I think Ms. Judd has a point and I think she is gracious enough to clarify that she meant no ill towards Taylor. way to go Taylor and thanks Wynonna for voicing your opinion.

I believe CMA is killing country music. It's not Taylor Swift we are shooting at with our comments. It is the CMA is reconizing POP artist not country artist. There are awards for POP artist. Keep it out of country. Over the years CMA is slowly killing the country musis artist. All music has its place and fans but why is CMA reconizing the wrong artist? This years CMA Awards is a disgrace to all country aritist. Taylor herself admitts her songs are for teens. It is teeny bobber music know as POP. So, CMA fix yourself.

Sorry I can't seem to type this a.m. That should have said "semmingly" and "a whole lot of somebodies."

Country music is seeminly the only genre willing to dilute itself for the sake of record sales. TS is pop, not country. Maybe it's time for the Association of Country Entertainers to regroup and take back the music. Having said that, a whole of SOMEBODIES voted for this awkward-standing girl so, next year, don't do it!

Ah yes, Taylor, the bridge between Miley and the big time. Everyone knows who buys her songs. Not us! She's there for now, however, no real starch for the long haul. Hang in there all y'all, real country music will reign again! Oh, get rid of Kid Clunker, too! Who let him in anyway?

Taylor cannot sing in tune, plain and simple, therefore, Vocalist of the year, over people like Carrie, MARTINA, Reba, and Miranda makes no sense. You need to be able to carry a tune to be a vocalist! As far as Entertainer of the year, she said herself that in the last year she opened for ALL the other noms. I don't understand how you get nominated for entertainer of the year if you are an opening act for most of that year. I makes no sense to me! Wynonna is not jealous, she just said what everyone else in Country Music was thinking and now she's taking flack for it! I'm very proud of her and VERY upset with the results of the show!

Wynonna has had all of that success and knows what she is talking about! Wy is an icon and Taylor should be lucky that Wynonna even mentions her name. The truth came out and Wynonna was the only one with the guts to say it! Love you Wy ....look'n good! Taylor belongs on the Disney Channel with Miley.

I don't understand. Taylor found a niche. And she writes to it. She's blessed to be able to perform to it as well. She's worked her butt off and her fans see that and appreciate it. And she appreciates them. I might not agree with the "Female Vocalist" award, but all the rest? You betcha. GO TAYLOR!!!

I dont undrestand how she could win over George Strait or any of the other ones. She doesn't even come close to having the talent they have. Plus, I dont care for that Bubble Gum country anyway. Her career will only go down hill now.Too much, too soon.

I think she is ok in some catagory, what it is I'm still trying to figure out. Miley has a much better voice. Taylor is awkard and anyone who has an unlimited budget can call their own shots. What or Who is she compared with? Comparing her with anyone just puts her futher out there. Yea, they felt sorry for her..Hurray for Wyonna..I'm very disappointed with the CMA and everyone should be.

Music is a fickle business...because it's customers are fickle. Once upon a time, an artist could enjoy a 10-15 year career. It took that long to build it. the age of communication has enabled listening consumers more of a variety. more variety = more competition. Exceptions to the rule are Loretta Lynn, Tanya Tucker, Shania Twain, Leanne Rhimes, Martina McBride - all who have enjoyed double digit career lengths. Taylor Swift is blessed with a wonderful talent to write songs, she has the energy the world needs right now, AND she had the financing it takes to make it in the business. Congradulations, Taylor. Enjoy it while it lasts...

Well, this has turned me off completely from the award shows. TS isn't a singer and is awkward at best as an entertainer. The kiddies may love her, but I don't. What a joke!

However, I do agree that it is probably too much too soon. Maybe it was political, like they were apologizing for the Kanye incident.

She has a beautiful voice, so I don't understand the comment that she is not a vocalist. She does not sound traditional big country voice, but so what?

thats what has gotten this county in trouble ....... not going by the facts ( she deserved it ) someone stupid trying to tell everyone you need to be politically correct and vote the way they do even tho its not right . I'm guessing wynoname is a good friends with kanya. would rather be a patriot and do things the way that is right .... then be politically correct. If thats the way the awards work as far as having to be politically correct ......... the award should have been won by a black , height challanged, deaf, blind, homosexual, native american , eskimo, women , that is mentally challanged. well ok give them credit .... they did pick a women , so in that case that was being politically courect enough. Everyoneone knew she deserved it ...... wynoname is just that anymore , who cares what she thinks. She sounds like she is from Hollywood ......... not Nashville

Not sour grapes.. more like being brutally honest. Taylor didn't deserve any award she won. She is DEFINITELY not a vocalist and is DEFINITELY not an entertainer. She always looks awkward and forced on stage and her vocals are horrendous. Not sure who was voting but the awards were a complete joke this year.

Sounds like "Sour grapes." Get over it Wynonna, times have changed with internet and everything. What if Taylor were disabled in a car crash tomorrow would you begrudge her her moment of fame?
