Whitney Duncan - "The Bed That You Made"

With the story being an elaborate play of the blame game, Whitney Duncan’s second single justifies a rebound, complete with high heels and a next-day return to prove a point to a disloyal lover. With a hand-clap driven beat and lots of percussion, this song seems to go to detailed lengths to punish that lover for doing the exact same thing. For the critics out there, “The Bed That You Made” suffers in concept and reason as it relies on catchy production to appeal to fans so simple that the Shania Twain comparisons fold up and go home in this microwaved hit. All of that being said, to the average fan out there, this song will feel like an anthem of strength and resolve as Whitney sings of a woman strong enough to show-up her man.

And sometimes that’s what it takes to get noticed, particularly in a crowded radio market.

"The Bed That You Made" is a song that will remind folks of Shania’s absence. The sassy lyric (and vocal delivery), combined with an ultra-hooky melody, is the exact thing we came to expect from Shania Twain that one might be easily confused that it isn’t the latest Twain song. Fans and radio will eat this up, just like they did for a majority of Twain’s critically-panned singles. This, friends, is definitely worth the price to pay to get the talented Duncan on the airwaves and a record on store shelves.

We had Whitney and the band here in Raleigh in November of '08 and in person she put on a great show with an impressively consistent sound - and we all know how often we end up hearing live acts that just don't live up to their studio cuts. Don't underestimate her vocals just yet...

Taylor's songs have at least been more interesting than Whitney's. As for Kellie, I'm not a fan, but I do think her voice is stronger.

Leeann, you're onto something! What Whitney Duncan really needs is Mutt Lange behind her co-writing her songs and doing the producing! (lol) Whitney does not have a great voice and it does lack depth and power, but that hasn't stopped Kellie Pickler and Taylor Swift so far. Sadly for Whitney I don't think Top 40 country radio programmers will feel any need to add her to their airplay rosters. The real question is how many radio singles Whitney's label will release until they pull the plug. Amy Dalley had 7 radio singles on the Curb label and look how far that got her.....

This song is catchy enough, but it lacks some of the muscle that Shania songs have. I don't really hear any depth in her voice either. I haven't been able to get on board with Duncan so far.

Wow - I had no idea Warner Brothers were willing to sacrifice the potential to promote their artists for free. It's a sad game for sure.

When I saw Whitney sing this live here in LA at The Mint Club a couple months back it was definitely one of the best songs she performed. Even though this is a fun song that doesn't mean Top 40 radio will give it a fair shot, which is a shame. If Whitney can't break down the radio barrier with this song, I'm afraid she's toast.

any artist signed to Warner Brother Records or Warner Music Group no longer has youtube videos. They are fighting.

"complete with high heels" - LOVE it. "This, friends, is definitely worth the price to pay to get the talented Duncan on the airwaves and a record on store shelves." - Let's hope so! It's about time someone other than GAC and XM gave her some airtime. "When I Said I Would" was awesome and it's a shame there was such a lack of promo for it... and that it disappeared off YouTube, so even fans couldn't promote for her.
