Trailer Choir - "What Would You Say"

Opening with intricately picked acoustic guitars and a swirling string section, “What Would You Say” draws introspective inspiration from West Virginia’s 2006 Sago mine disaster that took the lives of twelve men. In the song, vocalists Butter, Big Vinny and Crystal ask the listener to think about what they would write to loved ones if given only one more chance. And though the subject matter is thought provoking, the song gets lost in overly slick pop production and distorted rock guitars that make the piece more reminiscent of late-90s rock than country – even today’s country. The mix and production almost drown out the steel guitar and vocal harmony, and the mandolin is barely noticeable throughout the verse. Yet, Trailer Choir can sing and given the right opportunity, may be able to really connect with a song’s emotional depth.

This is a nice song, well what I can hear of it anyway through the poor production values you mentioned. These folks do have some genuine talent, but the whole "trailer trash" shtick in no way helps them with Top 40 country radio programmers who all want to hip, not kitschy. I do know how Trailer Choir can put their image to good use though. They need to put out a calendar featuring nice shots of Crystal ONLY in skimpy outfits and settings that are a total send up of stereotypes of white trailer trash redneck culture. If they need any ideas or inspiration, all they need to do is watch an episode of CMT's "Redneck Wedding" show. (lol)
