Sometimes simple songs with simple melodies get overlooked by fans and radio alike as they go for the latest, greatest tempo-filled track.  While a big hit for Keith Urban, I can't help but feel as if one of 2008's best singles, "Everybody" wasn't one of the songs overlooked by folks.  Over a soft melody, Keith sings an introspective lyric about a woman who doesn't like the way life has taken her and rather than stay in a bad situation, the woman decides to get out.  Keith says that she doesn't have to 'do it on your own' and that he's there for her if she needs him.  Anyone who has been stuck in a rut, or feels as if life has sucked them into a vacuum that they want to get out of, will most certainly relate to "Everybody."

"Everybody" is the kind of song that can help someone heal.  It's the kind of song that reminds us that we're not alone in life, even when we feel like we are.  It's the kind of song that reminds us that God can be that 'someone' who helps us.  It's the kind of song that deserves its place on Roughstock's Top 40 singles of 2008 and that's just where it lands, as the 20th best Country single of 2008.
