Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' Tops the charts

Giving the country music industry the shot it needed in the 4th quarter, Taylor Swift's sophomore release "Fearless" is moved nearly 600,000 units, which was more than enough for her to top the Hot 200 all genre album chart along with the Hot Country Albums chart. In addition to Taylor's sales, country music saw an uptick in sales for all artists performing on the CMA Awards Telecast Wednesday, November 12.  The country music industry certainly hopes that the sales trends will continue to help bring the genre out of its economic slump, a slump that's larger than the rest of the music genres.

Good post Rick! You said it! After sitting through several of her live performances...I need a trophy!

At my school, the secretary's daughter was all about the Taylor Swift album, though quite a bit more pumped for David Archuletta's. I agree with Rick in that my admiration of Swift is more of her marketing skills than her music. I think Jonathan Keefe at Slant nailed it when he described her as closer to Madonna than Britney Spears in that sense. I have a feeling she'll be around for a long time, even if she doesn't always call country home.

I totally lover her new album! I only tend to like one or two songs off an artist album but I really do like if not LOVE almost all of her songs on this one. (that's big for me i don't even tend to like female artist!)

OMG a new Taylor Swift album! That is like so totally awesome and cool! (Note: The preceeding has been heard at grammar, junior high, and high schools across the land this week, and via countless email and text messages as well.) Taylor has created her very own "Teenie-Pop" genre that appeals to girls of all ages (and especially if they are under 15). This album will sell in the millions and the actual quality of the music will be almost irrelevant to Taylor's fan base. Taylor has put her extensive knowledge of pop culture to good use! I think this girl is a genius even if I don't care for her music in the slightest.
